Review:

Director Dean Fleischer Camp delivers a visually impressive film that blends CGI and live-action, capturing the spirit of the original animated movie while adding new elements. The film was shot on location in Hawaii, which adds authenticity to the setting and culture. Maia Kealoha, playing Lilo, brings charm and heart to the role, while Sydney Elizebeth Agudong portrays Nani with warmth and strength.

The movie places a strong emphasis on Hawaiian culture and features native Hawaiian actors and traditional music. Chris Sanders returns as the voice of Stitch, bringing back the character’s playful and lovable personality.

Critics have praised the performances and the film’s cultural representation but noted that the emotional depth and subtle messages of the original are not as strongly felt here. The ending differs from the original, which received mixed reactions from longtime fans. Nevertheless, audiences have responded positively overall.

Soundtrack:

The soundtrack features a mix of classic songs and new recordings, including a fresh cover of “Burning Love” produced by Bruno Mars and a new rendition of “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” performed by local Hawaiian artists.

Final Verdict:

Lilo & Stitch (2025) is a well-crafted remake that introduces the beloved story to a new generation with beautiful visuals and a respectful portrayal of Hawaiian culture. While it may not fully recapture the magic of the original, it offers a heartfelt message about family and belonging.
